The install completes for me, but when I run it, with all of the prerequisites (El Capitan 10.11.16, Latest version of Evernote, fully sync'd), it asks me to accept the terms of the license agreement, which I do. When I hit 'Get Started' I get the colorful spinning wheel of 'hang'. And it never comes back (I have let it run for over an hour before). Here is the info of the 'hang' that gets produced after I do a 'force quit'. On a Mac El Capitain (10.11.6), with OneNote Importer (Preview - 1.0.1) and Evernote (Version 6.8 - 453748 Direkt). The importer insists that I deinstall Evernote from the Mac App Store and install the version downloaded from the Evernote website which I did. My second attempt, using an.enex file (6GByte, 13k notes) will take 21h to import the 13k notes, calculated from the time it took for the first 100 notes. Is the importer really this slow or are there tricks to speed it up? - Olav UPDATE (16h later). It stopped working at #801.

No notes at all were imported. Looks like I will stick with Evernote and wait for an alternative vendor whom I can pay for a working piece of software.

for general windows news and support. Does anybody experience with deciding on a particular tool based on the utility the tool brings vs. The enjoyability one gets while using it? My example is evernote and onenote. I truly despise the note taking experience in evernote and often think the flexible structure causes me to think about how i could organize it far too often.but, i feel like it's a better tool than onenote.
On the other hand, i love the experience i get with onenote, i love how it looks, but it feels like a second tier tool to me. Any suggestions? I thought about going back to EverNote recently, toyed with the idea and version.
The biggest 'nope' was the limitations for paid accounts. OneNote is completely free now, but EverNote (among other things) limits your upload size and your offline access to their Plus account. Then for their Premium account they limit the ability to annotate PDFs and version history. I think there was also a limit on # of notebooks when I used it?
Don't see anything about that on the evernote website now though. All of those OneNote gives for free. The only thing EverNote currently offers that I could ever want is better tagging/searching, mobile passwords, and maybe some overall faster performance.
When I originally swapped to OneNote they didn't offer good android handwriting input options, but it looks like that has been added since (dunno how improved it is though). They are planning to add passwords to mobile. I've lived just fine without tags for the last year or so, I'm pretty organized. So yeah it really just comes down to that money, they are pretty equal to me. They don't offer enough to be worth the money when compared to ON. This reminds me of evernote before implementing linking between notes.
The 'workaround' for that was to just make a random chain of characters that you'd put in each note you wanted to 'link' together. Then a search for that character chain would return your 'linked notes'. Your workaround is a similar idea, inputting special characters to try and get search to serve a different function. I did try this with OneNote, ironically found out that it's search engine completely ignores the # symbol among a few others. Of course you can just find something that search recognizes, but that's still just a keyword system that can help with search but not the same as a centralized tag system that lets you add multiple category hierarchies to the same note. This is interesting.
Rather than using a single tool to create a note then file it with all the others, you iteratively refine notes as they flow through a workflow consisting of multiple note-taking tools, which you also iteratively refine. A few questions:. As you re-evaluate your methods, do you find yourself using ON or EN more or less? What other tools are part of your workflow?. Can you provide a little more detail on how you use screenshots?
What do you mean 'collapsed screenshots' and how are they used? What about the 'GIFs of you using' software?. For a web page or pages, how do you record/save/archive them? I struggle with this.
Email to ON creates a screenshot and a text version, but I find that I need to distill it quite a bit afterwards. Send to ON likewise requires distillation. Those options are quick and handy, but i usually end up reformatting, restating, or otherwise chopping it up to make it useful.
